I recently read somewhere that if we paid as much for tap water as we do for bottled water, most of us would have water bills of about $9,000 per month. Less than a day later I saw a news report about how the overwhelming majority of bottled water is absolutely no more clean than the average water found from the taps of most homes; even the filtered stuff. This was followed by (I'm not kidding) a local news report about how most recycling materials such as glass and plastic refuse never see a recycling plant. There's simply too much of it and the greater portion ends up in a landfill someplace.
And here I am, just having achieved a comfortable Zen of having switched to bottled water only and, finally after two decades of recycling becoming mainstream, beginning to toss my plastic bottles into a recycling container for our weekly recycle pick-up.
My efforts futile. Absolutely futile. I'm going back to the tap stuff, and over-fluorification be damned.
