Mourners gathered for Mr. Pavarotti's funeral today. I own only one Pavarotti CD but have always been somewhat of a closet fan. A few years back a friend turned me on to his rendition of 'Oh Holy Night', sung in French as only Pavarotti could, of course. That and his Nessun Dorma is a standard I play in my dark, lonely times or even on long drives when I've felt particularly melancholy; his voice always making my chest full and my eyes wet.. One day, many will wonder what it was like to live in Pavarotti's time, the vocal equivalent to Michelangelo. Ciao, amico.
