A Boston fireman has been the apparent victim of a race crime but you're not likely to see it on the local or national news. Why? Because the victim is white and the alleged gang is Hispanic.
While the local media here in Boston is all about following the illiterate, barely audible Mayor about town during his daily routine of ribbon-cutting and photo ops at local 'community" centers, very little has been mentioned here about the crime, with the exception of The Boston Herald. Link to a copy of the story is HERE.
According to reports, the 32-year-old off-duty fireman is recovering from what could have been fatal stab wounds received early Monday morning by a group of Hispanic males in East Boston. The gang reportedly told the fireman they 'don't want any gringo here."
Police, for some odd reason, are not classifying the incident as racially fueled. Of course not, only white people can be racists, right? I mean, that's what they're taught here in Massachusetts public schools. The victim whose name is not being released but is confirmed as being white, was saved only by seeking refuge at Engine Company 5, the same station he's assigned to. A BFD spokesman said the firefighter had gone to Chivas Restaurant in East Boston's Day Square to grab takeout when "six guys started exchanging words with him. He indicated he was just there to get a sandwich and that he was a firefighter." At that point is when the group began to push him.
Hoping to avoid a confrontation, the spokesman said the victim got into his car and headed for his station but the pack followed him on foot. It was when he arrived at the station, getting out of his car that the group attacked; punching, kicking and then stabbing him in the chest.
So if you're reading this and you're in Boston, (or hell, even if you aren't), it's not a bad thing to contact the Boston Police Department and/or your city councilman about why this crime is not being categorized appropriately. No doubt the city, as it does with other statistics, wants to keep it official number of race crimes to a minimum; but to do so dishonestly and at the cost of a man who puts his life on the line everyday for everyone, regardless of race? THAT burns..
