I like this guy, so I've decided to let him welcome you back after my months-long hiatus. You missed me, right? I know you did. He's a Buddhist monk and he's my new best friend in Vientiane, Laos. I forget the name of his temple but I recently found myself going back every evening for a few nights watching, and listening as the monks offered up their evening prayers via somber chants that sounded more like the hum of an ancient, fine-tuned instrument. They're all just boys, many if not most of them there out of poverty as much as devotion. More on that later but really, welcome back.
